The optics are provided by a Celestron Nexstar 127 SLT Maksutov-Cassegrain catadioptric optical tube set on a fully computerized AZ/EL mount. This provides 127mm of aperture and a focal length of 1500mm (F/12)
The camera used here is a Celestron Neximage 5 solar system imager. It connects directly to the 1.25” barrel giving excellent images even at high magnification. The colour CMOS sensor is 7mm (diagonal) giving a magnification of 215x with the Nexstar 127 SLT.
The Ostara Crystalview 1.25” Moon / Skyglow filter has been used with some pictures here.
Stellarium has been my software of choice for controlling the mount and planning views of the sky.
